LOCAL TRANSPORT PLAN PROGRAMME 2025-26 The report sets out the details of the draft Local Transport Plan (LTP) Highway Maintenance programmes for 2025-26 for consideration and comment by the Local Area Committee, prior to final approval of the programme by the Executive Director for Place and Regeneration in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Improving our Roads and Highways. Additional documents: Minutes: I Raine – Highway Asset Manager, introduced the proposed programme of capital maintenance works across all the highway infrastructure assets.
The Local Transport Plan Programme was developed using evidence and data from several sources, these included: · Machine based condition surveys · Visual condition surveys · Priorities from Elected Members and Parish Councils · Pothole reports · Accident data · Insurance claims
The programme had been developed based on a total expected capital settlement of £28.693m which was made up of allocations from the North East Combined Authority through the City Region sustainable Transport Settlement and through the Local Authorities Medium Term Financial Plan. Officers confirmed that they were awaiting confirmation of the detail behind the additional pothole fund announced by Central Government.
Members were invited to discuss the Local Transport Plan Programme 2025-26 in which it was noted that the final decision for the Swinhoe Crossroads would take place once options for a roundabout or junction consideration. Members were in support of a roundabout, however understood that there were significant issues with that option, including land acquisition. |
