Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, at the
behest of the Department of Transport (DfT) and the Cabinet Office,
NCC have continued to reimburse bus operators at pre Covid levels
in respect of concessionary travel reimbursement.
DfT have now advised transport authorities to revert to reimbursing
concessionary travel based on actual usage with effect from the 1st
April 2022, albeit with a phased approach to the reduction of
payments during the early part of the 2022/23 financial year. This
report will seek endorsement to implement the DfT recommended
approach.
